Talisman Programs Campership
We at Talisman have always tried to serve as many families as possible, including those who cannot afford the tuition of summer camp. Therefore, we are especially excited about the Talisman Programs Campership Fund!
Talisman started life as a non-profit, and that has always been in our blood. We have wanted to find a way to serve all appropriate campers, but as a small owner-operated for-profit, we are not eligible for tax-deductible donations. So we were excited to partner with the American Camp Association (ACA), our accrediting body, which hosts scholarship funds.
Here’s how it works: The Talisman Scholarship fund lives under the ACA’s nonprofit umbrella. We raise the funds that go into it, and have created a system for awarding scholarships, based on ACA guidelines. Donations are fully tax deductible, and the ACA sends official receipt letters.
Please consider including Talisman Programs in your annual charitable giving, to help us serve more children who otherwise could not afford camp. If your child’s Talisman experience was meaningful to them, help create the same experience for another child.
Giving is easy! Read through the ACA brochure. You can send checks directly to the ACA or to us, and we will forward to them. Checks must be written to “ACA Camper Scholarship Program”, and have “Talisman Programs Campership” in the bottom left corner. Every donation of any size is appreciated, as we strive to help more families in need. Thank you for helping us help more children!
To apply: Talisman’s award guidelines are based on financial need, and are especially for new campers. Families must fill out a camp application first, and put down a $300 deposit. Then they may fill out the scholarship application and submit it along with requested documentation. We determine level of need and do a lottery if we do not have sufficient funds to cover all need. All scholarships are partial. Scholarship Application to camp
NOTE: Campership applications for Summer 2018 will open in January.
