We help kids with Aspergers all summer long and now we want to try and be helpful for families during the school year. We have put together some resources below that aim to help families put their searches into one simple directory. Aspergers School Resources California families need can help avoid a challenging school year.
We are based in North Carolina but have had a lot of success with therapists and schools mentioned in some of the links below. Take a look, but if you have questions please feel free to reach out and ask us directly. If we do not know we will point you in the right direction!
Right now families from all of the country are looking for similar resources in their communities just like you. We are hoping these links can help you on your journey. If you need additional resources please contact us. Miss Robiyn(Our Admissions Director/Owner) may now know your area specifically but she can direct you to people in your community who do.
For some families finding an educational consultant can help the journey to find the most appropriate school. Educational consultants normally know your area and schools personally.
Some teachers may not know or have had experience working with ASD students. Here are three bullet points that may make the year much smoother:
- Build a set schedule – A schedule helps to avoid not knowing what is next. Not knowing what is next can create larger issues during the day and lead to some disruptive behaviors.
- Allow the student to take a break – Build in times where your ASD schedule can take a break from the sensory bombardment of the classroom. This can help to reset from challenges experienced during the day.
- Write a needs summary for your child – Some Autism spectrum disorder students may not advocate for themselves that well. Creating a one page list of needs for your child can help teachers better understand challenges and be prepared for the year ahead.
No matter what may be a head in the year to come we know you and your child will come out on top!
