Our Camp’s Programs & Activities
We provide various options for children who choose our ADHD summer camp North Carolina. We have different camp programs you can choose from including Discovery Program (our youngest age group); Foundations Program (ADHD specific); Sight Program (Autism spectrum specific); Teen Adventure Programs: Quest, Hook and Tackle, Tri Adventures, Caves and Mining; Leadership Program; and Krewe Program (alumni specific).
Our Discovery Program is for young campers, ages 6-7, who may have ADHD or other learning differences. This is an introductory program that helps youth become accustomed to the idea of camping, complete outdoor activities, and overcome social anxiety by meeting and working with similarly-abled peers. Our Foundations Program is tailored to boys and girls with ADHD between the ages of 8 and 13. Foundations works to help campers achieve personal growth (focus, goals, and accountability), through group discussions, adventure activities and cooperative living. Campers who attend these sessions participate in rock climbing, inflatable white-water kayaking, science, arts and crafts, etc. as well as a 3-day hiking and campout adventure. Foundations campers leave with lasting memories as well as a high sense of personal accomplishment. The Adventure Programs are designed for teens with ADHD (and similar differences) to engage in activities more specifically tailored to their unique interests. Problem solving, risk taking, independence and responsibility are all honed during camp sessions. Our Young Adult programs (ages 18-22) combine traditional camp fun with lessons and outings focused on building independence and a transition to adulthood.
The camp programs are divided into primary age groups of 6-7, 8-12, 13-17 and 18-22. While campers of different ages will cross paths during their stay at Talisman Camps, at community events or meal times, campers complete activities with their own age group and further with their cabin mates. Cabin mates are grouped according to developmental abilities. Our camps and activities are co-ed, however boys and girls do have separate cabins. You may consult with our Admissions Director Robiyn to decide which program best suits your child.
